THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING A PART AGAIN THIS YEAR!
We raised just under to $38,000 this year!
Next year's event will be held at the Black Mountain Golf Club Wednesday July 23rd, 2014!! See you then. :)
Since 1998, Brad Krauza has been involved in a number of fundraisers for families of children with terminal illness. In 2001, sixteen of his closest friends came together and organized the first annual Ugly Jacket Classic Golf Tournament.
Brad’s friends, being of like mind, felt the need and desire to help others and kept their promise to continue the tournament tradition. As the tournament grows larger, more and more money is being raised to help individuals in need. Participants, whether golfers or supporters, feel truly honored to be part of such a noble cause.
The Ugly Jacket Classic Golf Tournament has now joined with the Wish Come True Society to achieve one common goal…..helping others. The Wish Come Tru e Society is our new, local, non-profit organization!
In the past, we have raised funds to help specific individuals in Kelowna, and last year we decided to aim for a much higher goal – to fund a hospice/respite house in Kelowna for children with terminal illness. Too many families suffer great financial hardship, having to quit jobs and incur huge expenses traveling to Vancouver to Canuck Place for their child’s final stages of life. Having a hospice house in Kelowna would allow children to pass with dignity, and be close to their loved ones. They could even be allowed to go home on a day pass and spend time in familiar surroundings with family, friends, pets, and favorite toys. A respite gives parents of seriously ill children an opportunity to have a break from the stressful duties of medication, supervision, etc. so they can try and enjoy a bit of peaceful time while knowing their child is in capable hands.
